OCEANSIDE DAYs OF ART

my first venture out of the illustration studio into public view . . .  oh . . . other than 2 years of sidewalk art at the Carlsbad ARTSPLASH !!!  So I needed to display my work . . . me build ???  i know how to stack bricks and wood planks to make shelves . . . plus transportation . . . anything bigger than 4 x 3 . . . feet not inches !! might be a problemo . . .  but i was successful !! and i think it complemented my work well it was all me. . .  'all mo' afterall !!

DAY ONE :   was on the 31st world-wide marathon sketch day from www.sketchcrawl.com . . . i am always missing out and never finding local participants . . . so i set up a table for the public to participate !!  big hit !!! . . .  carried it over to day two . . . started a demo . . .  final product is okay . .  . but it was fun . . . gathered crowds . . . opened up conversations . . . though bo was there to help and he was awesome !! great customer service and able to discuss my work extremely well !!! . . . reception was great . .  . sales not much to talk about . .  . though a teaching job and a book fair have already come about from it !!

DAY TWO :   started off with a happy dance !! the display held !!! especially with the marine layer and the severe gutter tilt !!! . . . then while setting up everyone kept coming by saying you are on the front page of the newspaper . . . bo ran off and found one left . . . actually front page of the second section . . .  but way cool !! (when i rode the california aids ride i made the front page of the goleta paper when we stopped there) . . . oh yeah !!  except they wrote mosart illustration instead of mosart studios ! . . . maybe i should have had them write a correction (heeheeeheee) . . . but seriously and sincerely THanks! for the coverage North County Times !

so everything went about the same . . . though several people said they came in because of me . . . some to see my work specifically . . . they didn't buy though . . . i don't know how i should take that !!  plus the grandson joined us for the last few hours of the day (he did add a few strokes to the demo !!! always helping me with my art !). . .  and the tear down of the booth . . .

his playpen took the longest . . . even the security crew tried to help !!  poor kid wanted to go home as we struggled with it all !  he did some great paul klee doodles in the sketchbooks !! part of the traveling public sketchbook archive . . .
